The Family Procedure Rule Committee, which sets the rules in family court cases, has proposed the changes, which have just completed their public consultation, following concerns about court-appointed experts, who advise on life-changing decisions without having the necessary qualifications and oversight. 

A C2 application in family law is a court form used when making a request related to an existing case, or a child arrangement order. 

You may have heard about a prenuptial agreement, which is signed before a marriage or civil partnership and outlines how a couple’s finances will be handled in the event of divorce or separation. Parental Responsibility (PR) has been in the news recently, following Harriet Harman MP (Lab) proposing an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill for paedophiles to have their PR stripped from them. (Paedophiles could be stripped of parental rights under new law – BBC News)
This amendment has received cross-party support, and follows a recent case where a mother spent £30,000 in legal costs to have her child’s father stripped of his PR following convictions of child sexual abuse. Upon conviction, paedophiles may be ordered to not have contact with children but, currently, this does not extend to their own children.
