Quite often we find ourselves entering the New Year full of promise and ambition….lose those few extra Christmas pounds, sign up to a gym, quit smoking and take more walks……All of these resolutions are aimed at having a fuller and fitter life.
It is also a time to get ourselves organised ready for the year ahead….plan that well deserved summer holiday, enter that run (the one you swore you would never do!)……..and most importantly, put a Will in place.
With all the New Year’s resolutions and the promise of a healthier, fitter future, it is not always at the forefront of our minds to put a Will in place. However, if 2016 taught us anything, it is that there are no certainties in life! From pop stars, Prince, George Michael and David Bowie to comedian Caroline Aherne and Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher we have learnt that there is no certainty of the future!
At what is already a difficult time, the complications of relatives passing away intestate (without a Will) such as popstar Prince is often a complicated and uncertain path. The Law will govern who administers and inherits the estate and in what proportions, sometimes leaving the distributions unfairly and clearly not what the deceased would have wanted. Funeral plans are made based on guesswork and there is always a question of whether the wishes of the deceased have been fulfilled.
We often diligently make sure that our insurance premiums are paid on time and are adequate for our needs; surely, the best insurance you can put into place is a validly executed Will. What better peace of mind is there than knowing your loved ones are provided for and at your passing, they will not have to face further difficulties.
Writing a Will does not have to be a scary experience, governed by doom and gloom. We can assist you with your Will in a friendly uncomplicated manner, ensuring that your wishes are fulfilled. We can offer clear expert legal advice in an informal, friendly manner.
Preparing a Will will not cost you dearly, however not executing a Will may cost your relatives dearly….. as we are at the beginning of a New Year, why not make one of those resolutions to make a new Will and move forward with the relief that your loved ones will be adequately provided for.
