Ian Paterson, the disgraced breast surgeon has been jailed for 15 years for carrying out unnecessary cancer operations over a period of many years.
Jurors at Nottingham Crown Court heard during the trial that Paterson had exaggerated or invented the risk of cancer to justify the surgery he performed.
Compensation has already been paid out to a number of patients who had surgery in the NHS at the hands of Ian Paterson and a large number of private patients are seeking compensation against him.
Paterson and the hospitals concerned at Little Aston and Parkway Hospitals run by Spire Healthcare, will now face further claims for compensation from hundreds of other patients who have come forward already. It is also anticipated that a large number of other patients, both those who were his patients on the NHS and privately funded, will come forward to pursue claims for compensation.
Alsters Kelley are dealing with a number of patients whose cases will now progress towards an award of compensation both for physical and psychological trauma.
If you wish to take legal action against Mr Paterson or Spire Healthcare, or indeed local NHS Trusts at which he performed surgery, we at Alsters Kelley would be very pleased to help you through the traumatic experiences that you have endured towards an award of compensation.
