Former England football captain, David Beckham who was facing prosecution for a speeding offence has had the charge dismissed because of a technicality.
He was accused of driving a loaned Bentley at 59mph in a 40mph zone in London earlier this year.
However, his lawyer Nick Freeman, who is known as ‘Mr Loophole’ argued that the speeding notice arrived one day too late.
The District Judge agreed that the Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) arrived outside the statutory 14-day window and therefore concluded that the defendant, David Beckham could not be convicted.
