2023 – a fantastic year for growth, development and continued success

2023 has proved to be another busy year for Alsters Kelley. As a firm, we have packed in a huge amount and are very proud of what we have achieved. There have been some amazing individual, team and firm wide accomplishments and successes and we want to thank everyone for their hard work.

New premises in Southam

Overall it’s an exciting time for Alsters Kelley. Earlier in the year, we hosted an event to celebrate the opening of bigger premises in Southam. We have had a presence in Southam for over seven years but had started to outgrow our Daventry Street office. When a suitable premise became available on the High Street it provided us with an excellent opportunity to become more prominent as a firm in the centre of town and have the right amount of space to help with our future expansion.

In addition, over the past 12 months, the firm has continued to grow and expand and we have made some key appointments and promotions, particularly across their rapidly expanding Family Department and in our Southam and recently acquired Stratford-Upon-Avon offices.

New appointments and promotions

Cathy Wahlberg, Managing Director at Alsters Kelley Solicitors Ltd said. “All of the appointment and promotions are well deserved and recognise valuable contributions and celebrate key achievements. We wish them every success in their new roles and look forward to their future input in the development and growth of themselves, their departments and the firm as a whole.”

With so many to share, here are some of the key changes:

  • Lisa Blizzard was appointed as a Director of the business after Erica Kemp stepped down. Erica will continue her sterling work as a Senior Family Solicitor
  • Rachael Flanagan was appointed Head of Medical Negligence & Personal Injury
  • Karen Brennan was appointed as a new Senior Solicitor in our family department
  • Shelley DeWorringham, Head of Family, returned from maternity leave and was promoted to a Senior Associate Solicitor
  • Helen Checketts was promoted to Senior Associate Solicitor and Head of Residential Property
  • Parveen Sidhu was promoted to Senior Associate Solicitors and Head of Dispute Resolution
  • Jas Thiara, Head of Criminal Litigation & Motoring Offences was also promoted to a Senior Associate Solicitor
  • Sarah Darby from our Private Client Department was promoted to Senior Associate, Wills & Probate Executive
  • Deepak Badhan was appointed Team Leader, Conveyancing Executive.
  • Sandra Steele was appointed as a Trainee Solicitor (bringing our total to 4 trainees across the business)

Charity success

It has also been an amazing year for charity fundraising our two main charities – The Luca Foundation, a charity which provides resources and facilities for families that have suffered the loss of a baby and South Warwickshire MIND, who help individuals to access mental health and wellbeing support across the region.

Julie McGarrigle, Alsters Kelley Business Development Director, said, ‘To date we have raised £2700 for our two nominated charities. This has been raised through our annual bingo night, two quizzes one in Leamington and one in Nuneaton, plus our monthly dress down days. We have also continued to donate food to Southam Fosse foodbank, as well as supporting other charity events throughout the year.’

Julie continues, ‘Overall, it’s been an amazing effort and we are very grateful to all our staff who continue to support our charity initiatives. Special thanks must go to our charity champions who have made all of this happen, as they are responsible for co-ordinating and organising of all the events alongside their main roles.’

Julie concludes. “On behalf of the Directors and all the staff at Alsters Kelley we would like to thank all our clients for their continued support throughout 2023 and would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
