You can keep the Oscars, the British Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. This month’s hottest ticket was last night’s Ladies first Professional Development Annual Awards! Not only was it great to be able to finally mix again face to face and catch up with so many talented people, but it was also a great occasion to celebrate plenty of utterly amazing business achievements from women and men across the region.
The networking company is known for its ability to ‘Inspire, Inform and to Introduce’ people and this year’s event was no exception. In its fourth year, their awards ceremony was held on 24th March at Coombe Abbey. There was a champagne reception, 3 course dinner and dancing too. Hosted expertly by singer, songwriter and broadcaster, Sandra Godley, there was a total of 29 award categories.
Family awards
As well as being a headline sponsor, Alsters Kelley Solicitors also sponsored the two-family awards, which were Family Business of the Year and Family Business – Husband & Wife Team – of the Year.
And as if this weren’t enough, Corinne Seabourne, Associate Chartered Legal Executive in their Private Client department, was lucky enough to be one of 5 finalists in the Achieves in Business (Employee) category.
Supporting and developing aspirations
Business Development Director at Alsters Kelley, Julie McGarrigle explains more about what happened on the big night. “I’d forgotten how exciting an awards evening could be, the excitement, the camaraderie and of course the anticipation. It was lovely to see so many people supporting such an important evening, which recognises outstanding achievement, excellence, growth and resilience.”
Julie said “It was an honour and privilege to be one of the judges and to announce the winners of our two-family awards. Jayne and Jessica Chambers from Haigs Hotel & McKees Restaurant were crowned Family Business of the Year, whilst Kelsey and Willian Seymour from St Maur took the honours in the Family Business – Husband & Wife Team – of the Year category.”
Julie added “But the excitement didn’t end there. Corrine Seabourne, Associate Chartered Legal Executive from our Private Client Department won the award for ‘Achieves in Business – Employee award. This is a great accomplishment for Corrine who is a brilliant ambassador for the firm and thoroughly deserves her win.”

Julie concludes “Congratulations and a big thank you to all the entrants, finalists and of course the organisers. It was a glitzy and glamourous night, where we came together to recognise the huge amount of time, effort, and passion that people who own, manage and/or work for businesses put into their growth and development. It was also a wonderful opportunity to inspire and motivate others to get involved and shout about their own business journey. We are looking forward to 2023 already!”
