The Claimant was the victim of a vicious assault where he sustained fractures to his cheekbone and jaw. He also developed an abscess under one of his teeth requiring its removal and additional root canal treatment and suffered a head injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (‘PTSD’).
The injuries sustained to the jaw and cheekbone resolved relatively quickly and the Claimant had to have his damaged tooth removed and replaced with an implant and crown which required ongoing dental care.
The Claimant experienced withdrawal issues, panic attacks and severe depression as a result of the head injury and PTSD and these injuries were diagnosed as chronic and permanent even after receiving specialist treatment from a Clinical Psychologist and Psychiatrist.
The Claimant was self-employed at the time of the incident and due to his ongoing psychological injuries, he was unable to fully re-engage back into the business resulting in a significant loss of earnings.
The Claimant received a settlement of £250,000 from the CICA in respect the injuries sustained and the loss of earnings suffered.
