Mr P was involved in a road traffic accident where he was a pillion passenger on a motorbike. The motorbike lost control and Mr P was thrown out of the pillion sustaining severe injuries.
Mr P sustained a degloving injury to his right foot with loss of toes, multiple abrasions, fractures of his hand and psychological injuries. He underwent an amputation of the distal phalanx of his big toe and the head of the proximal phalanx was shortened to achieve skin cover. Mr P’s little toe was also disarticulated at the MTP joint.
Mr P also underwent K wiring of the 4th and 5th metacarpal fracture dislocations in the left hand.
Mr P will require long term podiatry care to reduce callus build up and also access to orthotics.
