Positive signs in the housing market, say our experts

Conveyancing executives at Alsters Kelley are warning home buyers and sellers not to believe everything they read in the papers.

Linda says: “you would be forgiven for believing the world was about to end with talk of double dip recessions and housing crashes. But, away from the headlines, we’re seeing positive signs.

 

“Local agents tell us they have many viewings and offers being made so the buyers are definitely out there. A slight readjustment is needed while sellers realise prices have dropped and they may need to compromise but, in reality, you should not lose out as what you drop on your own sale price you will gain on the home you buy.”

 

Cathy adds the volume of mortgage lending and house sales will continue to rise. “We won’t see the same boom as we did six years’ ago,” she says, “but, a more gradual increase is no bad thing for the housing market and will benefit those looking to get on the ladder.

 

“Prices are likely to stay fairly consistent for the next six months in Warwickshire and we’ll continue to see an increase in first time buyers.”

 

Linda continues: “the real challenge for buyers is the need to find bigger deposits. Lenders look more carefully at mortgage applications and will not lend such high loan to valuation rates. However, buyers are continuing to find ways to fund their deposits.

 

“The most important thing to remember,” Linda concludes, “is that buying your home should be exciting, as stress-free as possible and something to look forward to. So, you should work with an experienced conveyancing professional who really knows the local housing market and the agents and lenders within it.”
