Denny & Son, which is based at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, has been acquired by Expo Flora, part of efg Europe.
The Warwickshire firm (based at Charlecote, near Stratford-on-Avon) supplies features and displays to a host of prestigious events nationwide – including Europe’s last two Ryder Cups, the Paris Airshow and the Grand National.
Coventry and Warwickshire solicitors Alsters Kelley acted for Expo Flora in the acquisition while Wimbledon-based solicitors Gregsons represented Denny & Son.
Colin Witherall, senior partner and head of the company and commercial department at Alsters Kelley, said:
“The time sensitivities around this year’s Wimbledon championships meant that we needed to pull the deal together in a relatively short space of time to ensure as little disruption as possible to either company or their clients.
“We were able to work closely with Gregsons to achieve a merger of the two operations which now sees a permanent, 12-strong team based at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.”
Efg Europe’s chairman and creative director Charlie Cox said: “Denny and Son is one of the leading names in our industry and every year millions of people have the chance to see its work in SW19. Its displays were shown every time the cameras panned on to Henman Hill.
“This acquisition is the ideal way forward as we are bringing together a great deal of experience as well as the creativity and skills from two successful businesses.”
This story was covered in the Midlands Business Insider e-bulletin of 3 November 2009.
