Coventry and Warwickshire law firm Alsters Kelley has boosted its litigation team with two new appointments.

John Simister has joined as an associate and head of the civil litigation department, while solicitor Fiona Samuda brings considerable local government experience to her role.

With 20 years’ experience as a litigation solicitor, John worked at a number of leading London and Midland firms prior to joining Alsters Kelley.

"Alsters Kelley has a growing reputation for litigation work and heading up the department to continue that growth was a great opportunity,” said John. "Alsters Kelley delivers a high standard of work and a very collaborative structure between departments.”

Fiona was formerly with Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and has considerable experience in civil and criminal prosecutions as well as licensing and enforcement. She has also worked for Wragge & Co and Shakespeares in Birmingham.

Both join Alsters Kelley at a time when the workload of the litigation team is expanding rapidly. Construction companies are increasingly seeking legal advice on a range of issues, while the internet and email have helped to spawn more actions from those believing they have been defamed.

Managing partner Catherine Wahlberg said: "We are delighted to have strengthened our team with two more recruits. Their knowledge and breadth of experience will help us continue to deliver a first class service to our clients.”

John Simister is based at the firm’s Leamington office and Fiona Samuda in Coventry. The firm also has an office in Nuneaton.
