First time buyers- act now to avoid stand duty and land tax (SDLT) Added: 05/02/2012 A two year relief from Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) for first time buyers is about to expire, warns Linda Ball, residential property executive at Alsters Kelley LLP, who says she wants them to know they need to act now to avoid incurring the extra cost. Introduced on 24 March 2010 by the HM Revenue and Customs, the relief waiver targets those buying properties between £125,000- £250,000 threshold. It is due to expire on 25 March 2012. |

Help for SME manufacturers- BIS launches advisory servi Added: 17/01/2012 The Department for Business Innovation and Skills officially launched its new Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) on 4 January. The service, which is available to qualifying manufacturing businesses across England, will be delivered by the Manufacturing Advisory Consortium and is estimated by BIS to generate £1.5billion of economic gross, 23,000 jobs, and is reckoned to safeguard another 50,000 jobs – we shall see! |
Legal action following PIP breast implants Added: 03/01/2012 British women who have had cosmetic surgery using breast implants by French company Poly Implant Prothese (PIP), still have a chance for redress at the hospital they had them, says Ally Taft, Head of Clinical Negligence at Alsters Kelley LLP.
It has been reported that although no cancer risk has been found, the type of silicone used to make them is questionable and is more likely to rupture, leaking inside the body.
